JEFFERSON
CHEN MD, PhD, FACS
DIRECTOR/CEREBROVASCULAR NEUROSURGERY Jefferson W. Chen MD completed
his fellowship in Skull base/Cerebrovascular Surgery
at the Barrow’s Neurological Institute. Previously,
he completed his neurosurgery residency at the University
of California at San Diego, and a combined MD/PhD program
at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Chen is actively involved
in multiple research projects, including the effects
of afferent stimulation on coma patients, surgical treatment
of Alzheimer’s patients, molecular mechanisms
of neuronal injury and death. His main clinical focus
is advancing the care/treatment of pati-
ents exposed to neurotrauma and those with neurovascular
disorders. Dr. Chen is the director of neurotrauma for
Legacy Health Systems, has numerous publications in
neurosurgery as well as has been awarded numerous grants.
Prior to joining Portland Neurovascular Center, Dr.
Chen was on faculty at Univ. of Texas at Galveston for
5 years.
DAVID A. SIKER MD
DIRECTOR/NEUROINTERVENTIONAL THERAPY David Siker MD completed his
residency in radiology at Georgetown University Hospital
and his fellowship training in Neuroradiology and Neurointervention
at both Georgetown University Hospital and the National
Institute of Health (NIH). Previously he completed medical
school at University of Florida, and BS in Electrical
Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Siker
directs the neuroendovascular service for PNC. Dr. Siker
was the first physician to bring neurointerventional
therapies from the university setting to the community
hospitals in both Oregon as well as Southwest Washington.
Dr. Siker’s research efforts are currently focused
on polymer as well as protein based embolic agents for
endovascular use. In addition, he is working on advancing
the integration of medical imaging tools with software
animation for the purposes of pre surgical simulation
and neurointervention.
Additionally,
the following physicians are actively involved in the
care of our neurovascular patients, including our stroke
call team*:
